The Toyota Corolla Fielder hybrid is the 2013 onwards hybrid engine wagon version of the world’s best selling car. The Corolla Fielder has the 1NZ-FXE engine as found in some Prius models, this is a 1.5L Atkinson cycle engine with 54kW, and also features a 45kW electric motor which is charged by the petrol engine. Driving modes include a hybrid mode with both the petrol and electic engines providing power at appropriate times (the petrol engine will turn off when only electric power is needed), or there is a full EV Drive mode that uses the electric engine only. Power is through a continuously variable transmission (CVT) to the front wheels.
Fuel consumption natually is very good, with quote figures of 33.3km/L, or 3.0L/100km.
